Responsibilities

  • Act as La Verne Site a strategic advisor, leading strategy development and execution in alignment with PDM strategy and ambition, company goals, market trends and in partnership with Site Leadership Team (SLT).
  • Provides insight in developing, prioritization and communicating site-wide priorities and initiatives. Creates buy-in for the business plans and vision for the future to ensure goals and operating budgets are aligned and achieved.
  • Institutes key processes necessary to achieve long and short-term goals.
  • Develop plans to translate strategic objective to tactical implementation of new technologies and processes to enhance production efficiency.
  • Serves as a key business partner to senior management team focusing on strategic issues across multiple functions.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress and identify areas for further optimization.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate collaboration and alignment on strategic and operational priorities
  • Communicate manufacturing site strategy and progress to senior management, including regular updates on performance metrics.
  • Evaluate new technologies and automation solutions to enhance production efficiency
  • Coordination of the SLT in support of the VP of operations
  • Collaborate with corporate, local PDM and IT leads to deliver technical solutions to meet future site needs through the implementation of the PDM digital strategy to support business process improvements and deliver tangible results and operational efficiencies
  • Accountable for the success of formal organizational changes management impacting all business units.
  • Lead the “organizational change management” of the site by developing communication plans and ensure effective communication strategies are in place within the organization, including two-way communication channels.
  • Support the development of a culture that aligns with the company values, encouraging a growth and learning mindset while ensuring accountability and retaining key talent in a positive environment.
  • Lead Operational Excellence team
  • Develop and execute an operational excellence strategy aligned with the company’s overall goals, identifying key areas for improvement and prioritizing initiatives.
  • Manages multiple cross-functional projects.
  • Conduct process analysis, identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies, and design and implement process improvement solutions using methodologies like Lean Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement frameworks.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities within the manufacturing process including materials, labor, and overhead expenses Lead the organizational change management process, including communication, training, and stakeholder engagement to ensure successful adoption of new processes.
  • Utilize data analytics to measure performance, identify trends, and track progress on improvement initiatives.
  • Build and manage a high-performing team of operational excellence professionals, providing coaching and development opportunities.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams across departments to identify and implement operational improvements.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging employee engagement and feedback on process improvement opportunities.
  • Maintain and continue to enhance the Gilead La Verne Environmental, Health, and Safety Management System.
  • Participate in project kick-off and update meetings to ensure all health, safety and environmental aspects are duly considered throughout process development.
  • Ensure that all conditions are met for environmental, health and safety issues for new and updated processes.
  • Ensure annual environmental reports are prepared in advance of regulatory filing deadlines.
  • Review and approve annual environmental reports.
  • Ensure Significant EH&S relate incidents/events are reported to the Senior Leadership.
  • Manage and progress open EH&S audit items to completion.
  • Manage the development and execution of the site Occupational Hygiene program.
  • Report any off-site spills or releases to the relevant authorities (e.g. LACSD, the City of La Verne).
  • Maintain a current level of emergency first aid certification.
  • Manage and direct the site security plan.
  • Provide technical support, monitoring, and resource allocation/management for all emergency response activities as required during an emergency event.
  • Represent the site in insurance/risk assessment matters.
  • Drive issues or potential problems relating to EH&S to conclusion.
  • Direct the development of policies, procedures, and practices dealing with EH&S based on best available scientific evidence and professional judgment.
  • Drive continual improvement in all EH&S processes.
  • Support the achievement off all applicable site, and broader Gilead Goals and Objectives.
  • Manage spending and resources in line with approved departmental budgets and corporate

Preferred Qualifications

  • Competent in strategy and execution and responsible for translating strategy into action plans.
  • Strong analytical skills to identify trends, root causes, and data-driven insights.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Deep understanding of manufacturing processes, financial metrics, and market trends to align digital initiatives with strategic goals.
  • Expertise in data analysis and reporting
  • Proven ability to lead and implement strategic initiatives
  • Experience with manufacturing software and systems
  • Extensive experience in manufacturing operations, preferably in a leadership role.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively convey complex strategic concepts to a diverse audience.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate teams, build consensus, and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Knowledgeable of the principles of GxPs.
  • Must have in-depth expertise in Commercial Aseptic Pharmaceutical Manufacturing.
  • Must have in-depth expertise in U.S, international cGMP, and 21 CFR Part 11 requirements.
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies, including cloud computing, data analytics, AI, and digital platforms.
