Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in creating VFX for video games and having worked on published AAA titles.
  • Having a portfolio/website demonstrating your artistic skills.
  • Proven understanding of hardware constraints and mastery of techniques to overcome them.
  • Proven mastery of game engines and their VFX features, as well as related software such as Maya, Houdini, 3Ds Max, Photoshop, etc.
  • Excellent knowledge of the Unreal Engine 4 or 5 game engine and Niagara is a highly desirable asset.
  • Active interest in the advancement of VFX trends and techniques.
  • Strong understanding of shader technology.
  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies.
  • Motivation and ability to work in a collaborative environment.
  • Ability to solve problems creatively, with focus and results-oriented thinking.
  • Strong artistic sense.
  • Knowledge of video games and passion for the industry.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Art Director and feature teams to elevate the game experience by designing and creating real-time particle effects across the scope of the game.
  • Develop creative direction regarding VFX techniques and style to maintain consistency throughout the user experience.
  • Work with multiple feature teams to assess and prioritize their requirements.
  • Collaborate with tools and tech team to enhance VFX pipeline.
  • Research and prototype new techniques as required and share knowledge within the team.
  • Act as a mentor to other team members, participate actively in creating an open constructive feedback environment and support the adherence to best practices amongst your peers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Having experience in co-development and/or with teams established in more than one location is an asset.
