Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in occupational safety, occupational health, engineering, environmental science, or other EHS-related technical discipline from an accredited college/university is required.
  • A minimum three (3) years of EHS program development, implementation, and leadership experience with a focus on environmental compliance. Experience working with OSHA, US EPA and state-level compliance programs and regulations.
  • In lieu of (3) years of experience, a Master’s degree in occupational safety, occupational health, engineering, environmental science, or other EHS-related technical discipline from an accredited college/university is acceptable.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with employee occupational health, safety and environmental laws, rules and regulations, applicable company policies and procedures. (i.e., OSHA, EPA, DEA, DHS, etc)
  • Be responsible for implementing company EH&S policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Federal, state, and local laws, regulations, rules, and best management practices.
  • Creation and submittal of EH&S reporting to ensure compliance with Federal, state, and local laws, regulations and rules.
  • Lead the implementation and management of site wide EHS programs such as corporate EHS Programs, training, emergency response, ergonomics, incident investigation, auditing, and performance evaluation for the site. Drive a culture of EHS excellence and secures engagement and buy-in among site employees and leadership.
  • Leads the Sustainability / Waste Minimization team, drives reduction in hazardous waste, drives reduction in energy usage, drives change to closure making data driven decisions and ensuring the team is active, engaged and recognized.
  • Assist with improving job safety analyses (JSA), ergonomic assessments, lockout tagout procedure management, personal protective equipment (PPE) assessments and deliver EHS training related to compliance.
  • Take proactive action to implement immediate and effective corrective actions to eliminate safety hazards.
  • Lead efforts to secure all required environmental permits, licenses and authorizations associated with projects and modifications.
  • Support the design review of new projects and modifications to existing processes and facilities to identify and resolve EHS issues, and incorporate lessons learned from prior projects or alerts shared.
  • Prepare EHS metrics reports that track the facility’s EHS performance.
  • Interact with upper management to direct and implement effective policies and procedures; demonstrate problem-solving skills.
  • Have the discretion to shut down equipment, tools, projects, and such if there is an imminent hazard to the health and well-being of employees, and to protect company property and the environment.
  • Understand and appropriately influence company strategy as related to Environmental Health, Safety and Security compliance and program implementation at the site operational level.
  • Must demonstrate effective communication, working relationship development, and the ability to influence site management, front line supervision, as well as other employees. An emphasis on cross-functional collaboration, teamwork, and the ability to motivate outside third parties.
  • Perform industrial hygiene sampling.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Federal and State Environmental laws, regulations, codes, and best management practices.
  • Knowledge of hazardous materials management and environmental regulations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop relationships quickly and effectively at all levels throughout the company.

  • Ability to work with people in a culturally diverse environment.
  • Demonstrate effective communication with Executive Management, Front Line Supervision as well as other employees.

  • Ability to use a computer, email, video conference tools and office software.
