Requirements
- Required High School Diploma or equivalent
- LIC-Driver’s License – STATE_MI State of Michigan RNC Kalamazoo and Residential Homes
Responsibilities
- Planning, implementing/conducting and evaluating appropriate activity opportunities for patients
- Conducting/implementing community and hospital based programs or special events as designated
- Conducts daily group and individual TR sessions in accordance with treatment goals and reports on content of sessions to direct report
- Participates with planning group sessions, decorating and maintaining TR supplies and equipment
- Assists with an ongoing evaluation of residents according to their background, activity interests, abilities, physical limitations and needs for meaningful activity programs
- Contributes positively to the Recreation Therapy Team and keeps direct report informed of significant issues
- Ensures that required document for activities within areas of responsibility is performed in an accurate and timely manner
Preferred Qualifications
- Preferred Associate’s Degree child life, child development, child psychology, early childhood education, recreational therapy or related degree
- 1 year of relevant experience working with the appropriate population served (geriatric, TBI, children, teenagers, or volunteers) and in the appropriate setting (long term care, children’s hospital) – Based on Spectrum Health entity and department as appropriate Preferred
- 1 year of relevant experience program planning and development Preferred
- Familiarity with music, crafts, exercise and group leadership- Based on Spectrum Health entity and department as appropriate. Preferred
