Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Computational Engineering or related field and 10 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or related occupation.
- 10 years of experience with utilizing Abaqus FEA Solver for linear, non-linear analysis and thermo-mechanical analysis.
- 10 years of experience with utilizing Python and Abaqus scripting for data analysis.
- 10 years of experience with predicting and assessing fatigue and strength using Finite element methodology.
- 10 years of experience with utilizing E/N, E/N, Mean stress correction, plasticity correction and fatigue materials for fatigue simulation and analytics.
- 10 years of experience with utilizing structural optimization methodologies including, topology optimisation for achieving mass and stiffness targets and shape optimisation for achieving stress and fatigue safety factor targets.
- 10 years of experience performing non-linear analysis of gasket sealing joints, including the analysis of gasket elements, derivation of load/deflection data from measurements and predicting gasket seal performance and durability.
- Experience of linear, non-linear analysis and thermo-mechanical analysis defining the correct material models and methods to obtain a converged solution; experience in modeling with contact and structural interactions; and experience in linear dynamics including modal, forced response and vibration analysis methods.
- Experience with python scripting for pre and post processing of analysis data.
- Experience in the correct use of the finite element method for fatigue and strength predictions; experience defining modeling requirements to accurately capture the stiffness and stress distribution in the model; and experience selecting the appropriate element formulations and material models.
- Experience of fatigue simulation methods including S/N, E/N, Mean stress correction, plasticity correction and fatigue materials; experience with at least one of the major fatigue softwares: nCode, Fe-Safe, or FEMFAT; and experience required in running fatigue duty cycles from Quasi-Static and from Modal Dynamic analyses.
- Experience in structural optimization methodologies for mass reduction whilst meeting stiffness, strength and NVH targets.
Responsibilities
- Develop structural analysis methods for the complete validation of E-motor systems, using linear, non-linear, thermo-mechanical, linear dynamic and fatigue FEA methods.
- Optimize the system performance based on structural and NVH requirements.
- Define technical targets and requirements for product durability and strength, including developing load and use cases for analysis and physical test.
- Responsible for analysis of the complete E-motor systems and will need to integrate with the Product Development teams guide the design process using CAE data.
- Develop scripts using python to assist with complex pre and post processing of the analysis models and data.
