Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and three years of experience working in research preferably with animals or in a research compliance area.
- Ability to plan and carry out responsibilities independently.
- Ability to interpret policies and procedures to solve unusual and/or difficult problems.
- Ability to work collaboratively within and across teams.
- Ability to effectively communicate with university administrators, faculty, post docs and students in a collegial manner.
- Demonstrated ability to present written information, ideas, and concepts in a clear, concise, and professional manner.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Effective planning and organizational skills.
- Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities
- Coordinates IACUC committee activities including scheduling monthly meetings, creating agendas, and managing member attendance.
- Records and produces official minutes of all meetings.
- Performs editorial review of minutes to ensure proper documentation of IACUC actions.
- Assists with post-committee meeting correspondence.
- Assists with preparation for AAALAC accreditation.
- Coordinates and plans IACUC semi-annual inspections.
- Prepares detailed written memos of review findings including suggestions for correction.
- Provides continuing education and inspection materials for IACUC members and research staff.
- Monitors completion of corrective actions.
- Provides reports to the IACUC.
- Coordinates ad hoc inspections when necessary.
- Coordinates and plans IACUC program reviews including but not limited semi-annual review and periodic review of guidelines, policies and procedures.
- Oversees the maintenance of IACUC policies, guidelines, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Provides support to Associate Director to complete any corrective actions.
- Coordinates investigations for concerns, non-compliance and adverse events.
- Prepares correspondence between the IACUC and investigators.
- Drafts reporting letters to oversight bodies.
- Ensures all required correspondence is sent in a timely manner.
- Provides guidance and support related to IACUC functions to the animal research community.
- Serves as a liaison between departments, investigators, and research staff.
- Provides timely and accurate IACUC correspondence and written reports.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of state and federal regulations related to laboratory animal care and use.
- Cross-trains with other IACUC roles to serve as a back-up.
- In assigned area of responsibility, reviews operating procedures for efficiency and effectiveness, makes minor changes or recommends major changes or improvements.
- Engages in planning and decisions related to new or changed procedures.
- Other related functions as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience conducting animal research or in research compliance related to animal research.
- Experience with meeting coordination.
- Demonstrated experience writing guidelines, standard operating procedures, and training materials.
