Requirements
- Associates Degree or equivalent experience
- NYS licensure as Lab Technician or Histological Technician
- Grossing experience
Responsibilities
- Preparing gross with biopsy specimens
- Verifying patient information submitted on protocol vs. specimen container
- Evaluating and deciding on the proper orientation of the specimen including inking of margins and choosing the appropriate dissection procedure for each specimen
- Dictating specimens’ gross description using glossaries and the MModal voice recognition system
- Inputting all other specimen data into the Laboratory Information System (CoPath)
