Requirements
- Experience with complex student information systems, course registration, curriculum and enrollment planning software (i.e. Banner, Colleague, Workday)
- Experience in understanding administrative registration matters across higher education
- Strong understanding of best practices in student registration and records and understands the role of the Registrar in strategic enrollment management and student success
- Ability to analyze and interpret academic records and make independent decisions and judgments in accordance with Howard University policy
- Ability to manage and adhere to tight deadlines and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to set a high standard of professionalism by providing high quality customer services to the general public, students, faculty and staff
- Detail-oriented and customer service and compliance-focused
- Proven record of accountability and follow-through
- Ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community
- Strong knowledge of all standard computer applications, including Microsoft Office products, with advanced level skills in Microsoft Excel as it applies to data management
Responsibilities
- Assists in the operational functions related to enrollment & registration including, but not limited to, registration permissions, overrides, waitlist and batch registration
- Collects, records, maintains, and reports academic records in accordance with FERPA and university best practices (i.e., enrollment data, athletic eligibility, and completion data)
- Manages transfer credit evaluation and processing using AACRAO transfer credit best practices
- Manages progress toward degree completion requirements and compliance for student athletes in accordance with NCAA, MEAC and University rules
- Produces academic standing and Deans list reports for review by the Provost’s Office and various schools and colleges
- Oversees grade reporting process (i.e., requests, changes of grades, and incomplete grades)
- Supervises organization of archived records and transcripts
- Supervises and ensures accurate reporting of enrollment/degree verification processing for student insurance needs, student loan deferment documents and National Student Clearinghouse requests
- Troubleshoots and resolves problems with student records activities
- Develops and delivers point-of-use training to faculty and academic unit staff
- Supervises the management of Office of the Registrar email account
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of managerial experience in a registrar’s office or closely related enrollment
