Requirements
- Ability to manage direct reports in multiple locations
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to synthesize information and communicate key messages
- Proven history of building and maintaining positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Excellent time management skills
- Flexibility to respond to shifting priorities and an ability to communicate these clearly to others
- Readily able to work with animals who are behaviorally and/or medically compromised, support staff in humane euthanasia situations
- California Veterinary Technician license a plus
- Must have a Commercial Driver’s License, or the ability to obtain one within the first six months of hire and pass a motor vehicle history check demonstrating a safe driving history
- Must be willing and comfortable learning to drive Mobile Clinics, which are up to 37 feet long, through city traffic (training provided by ASPCA) within the first 6 months of hire
- Fear Free® Shelter certified or obtain within 60 days of employment
- Obtain CDS (controlled substance registration certificate); handle controlled substances related to the veterinary medical program according to strict guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of managers overseeing four key functions: client experience, logistics, medicine and nursing
- Support a culture of respect, belonging and teamwork through regular 1:1s, recognition, supervision, developmental coaching, performance evaluation and fun
- Partner with the Regional Management Team to provide clear and seamless leadership for the Veterinary and Medical Managers
- Foster open 2-way communication with MVS team members to ensure they have timely, relevant information to excel in their work
- Provide open and honest feedback and communication to the CM Regional Management Team to execute the department’s strategy and fulfill our mission
- Partner with the People Team to hire outstanding team members
- Ensure every team member receives high-quality onboarding, training and ongoing professional development opportunities to thrive in their roles and grow in their careers
- Be a consistent, visible presence at the Paramount logistics hub and in the field at MVS locations
- Deliver superior client experience and patient care for every client, every animal every day
- Achieve program impact goals – ensure mobile clinics are staffed, functioning, and filled to capacity
- Support your team in working through day-to-day obstacles inherent in mobile programs to minimize disruption of services
- Maintain a safe and healthy workplace for all staff, clients and animals
- Monitor inclement weather and emergency events that may impact MVS operations; prepare and execute plans to prioritize safety
- Ensure Fear Free® certifications are obtained by all staff and gentle animal handling is practiced consistently
- Oversee financial & administrative health of the MVS program
- Partner with colleagues in Safety, Facilities and Legal to ensure a safe, secure and squeaky-clean environment on mobile units
- Oversee coordination of repairs and routine maintenance for CM’s Los Angeles fleet of mobile veterinary clinics
- Work effectively with inter-agency partners to achieve ASPCA priorities in the region
- Oversee the development and monthly publication of the MVS schedule
- Represent the ASPCA and CM’s work to internal and external partners as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year experience creating and developing written Standard Operating Procedures is preferred
- Experience supervising manager-level employees strongly preferred
- Previous experience driving large vehicles (e.g., RVs, box trucks, or trailers) a plus, but not required
- Bilingual (fluent in Spanish preferred, other language a plus)
