Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
- Advanced/graduate degree preferred.
- 10 years of total work experience preferred.
- Over 10 years of investment experience preferred.
- Applicable local/regional licenses or certifications as required by the business.
- Bi-lingual capabilities are helpful as is an understanding of local/cultural nuances important for client trust.
Responsibilities
- Manage a team of Special Asset professionals who administer a diverse, nationwide portfolio of assets owned in fiduciary accounts that includes but is not limited to commercial and residential real estate, mineral interests, tangible assets and mortgage related assets.
- Ensure compliance with all Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) regulations and BNY policy guidelines.
- Collaborate with clients, trust counsel, third party affiliates, as well as internal partners such as Wealth Managers, Investment Managers, legal, Risk & Compliance to ensure the successful management of specialty assets.
- Meet with clients and new business prospects to communicate asset management strategy and current market conditions.
- Implement investment strategies for complex assets consistent with client financial goals and risk tolerance and in accordance with the investment policies/philosophies and procedures and applicable regulations.
- As a subject matter expert, you will develop and share policies and strategies to improve the performance of the Special Assets group.
- Build necessary processes to enable executive leadership to make informed decisions on changes that impact the portfolio.
- Member of an internal fiduciary oversight committee that is responsible for the approval of annual asset reviews and makes significant investment decisions related to special assets and approves changes to internal policies and procedures.
- Supervise, recruit, direct, motivate, and develop staff, maximizing their individual contribution, their professional growth and their ability to function effectively with their colleagues as a team.
- Contribute to firm profitability by assuring retention and expansion of existing client relationships.
