Requirements
- Completion of a Surgical Technology, Anesthesia Technologist, Certified Nurse Assistant or Medical Assistant program
- Washington Medical Assistant Certification –or– Washington Nursing Assistant Certification License –or– Washington Surgical Technologist Registration (upon hire)
- National Provider BLS – American Heart Association (upon hire)
- National Certified Endoscope Reprocessor – Healthcare Sterile Processing Association –or– National Flexible Endoscope Reprocessors – Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (within 1 year of hire)
- One year of experience (within 3 years of assuming the position) in a medical setting as a Surgical Technologist, Anesthesia Technologist, Nursing Assistant Certification or Certified Medical Assistant required
- Basic computer skills, such as data entry, are required
- Ability to read, write and understand English is required
- Basic math aptitude and knowledge of units of measurement required
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
- Ability to effectively present information in small group situations
- Ability to recognize malfunctions of instruments and equipment, and decide proper course of corrective action
Responsibilities
- Schedule procedures
- Perform computer data entry for ph studies
- Assist in the procedure room
- Clean and disinfect scopes
- Prepare equipment for sterilization
- Prepare scopes for repair
- Track repair
- Set up procedure room
- Maintain disinfection logs
- Maintain supplies needed for procedure rooms, dirty utility room, and clean utility room
- Assist the nurse with patient admission to the procedure room
- Demonstrate knowledge of principles and practice of aseptic techniques
- Participate in all quality assurance activities related to infection control and disinfection/sterilization of endoscopic equipment
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of 12 months of full-time employment or equivalent part-time hours processing flexible endoscopes preferred
- Knowledge of infection control procedures including PPE, Blood Borne Pathogens, biohazard waste removal preferred
- Knowledge of types of microorganisms (bacteria, virus, fungus, prions), disease transmission; prevention of cross contamination and Anatomy and Physiology as related to GI and Pulmonary body systems preferred
- Knowledge of scopes and accessories for endoscopic procedures, handling and cleaning of scopes and accessories and reprocessing of scopes/accessories preferred
