Requirements

  • Masters in Advanced Clinical Practice or graduate of a post masters certificate program for nurse practitioners, OR certificate from an education program that is accredited by the Council of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs/Schools, American Association of Colleges of Nursing of the National League for Nursing. For Physician Assistants, graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program and certification by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.

  • Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner; If Nurse Practitioner: RN Compact License (depending on State of primary residence) AND a license (or eligibility for) as a nurse practitioner or physician assistant in the Commonwealth of Virginia AND a “Practice Agreement” signed by sponsoring/ supervising physician(s),AND a written “Scope of Practice/Protocol” signed by the supervising physician, AND “Drug Enforcement Administration License” (if prescribing controlled substances)

Responsibilities

  • Will provide direct hands-on care to patients within the limits of credentials granted by the Medical Staff of Inova Fairfax in recognition of advanced training and experience in this field
  • Will adhere to patient care and admission criteria policies and procedures of the Department of Medicine.
  • You will perform high quality clinical practices and effective patient management, under physician supervision, in accordance with state regulations including primary/secondary specialty care in clinical and/or surgical practice settings.
  • Demonstrate technical expertise by assisting physicians with diagnostic/therapeutic procedures.
  • Prescribe medications in accordance with state guidelines.
  • Displaying respect for and an appreciation for the contributions from all team members in order to foster positive working relationships is essential.
  • Participating in quality and best practice initiatives by utilizing standards and guidelines for cost effective care delivery in order to continuously improve patient care and enhance outcomes is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two plus years of experience in hospital medicine
  • Graduate from an acute care nurse practitioner program or Physician Assistant
