Packaging Technician

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.
Some technical, vocational, or high school programs are preferred.
Minimum 7 – 10 years of related experience in a general maintenance environment is required.
Minimum 3 years in-house expertise, to include 2 years with strong performance as a packaging technician and thorough knowledge of GMP requirements.
Must have good mechanical and basic electrical understanding.

To provide Technical expertise on most packaging equipment/changeovers/repairs/change parts/new equipment installations.
Contact and coordinate with other departments or vendors on projects or assigned tasks.
Schedule work and delegate responsibilities.
Schedule equipment needed for packaging lines.
Train and develop packaging technicians.
Maintain change parts in good mechanical condition.
Perform line tests to determine compatibility of equipment/products/packages, support new product/package changes with change parts identification/design and implementation.
Provide electrical/electronic trouble shooting and associated repairs.
Disassemble/clean/sanitize product filling equipment.
Maintain records/logbooks/etc. as required by MSOP and/or management.
Identify and order repair/replacement parts for packaging equipment.
Perform other duties as may be required by Supervisor.
Perform all equipment technician ‘C’ and ‘B’ duties and responsibilities.
Within area of responsibility, understand and comply with all safety, environmental and quality practices and procedures as outlined in organizational/departmental guidelines and SOPs as well as applicable federal, state and local regulations.
Perform other duties as assigned.
