Requirements
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Graduate of an approved school or institution for Medical Assistants with current certification required.
- Current BLS Required
- Strong pharmacological knowledge
- Meets or exceeds level I & II
Responsibilities
- Check in and check out patients
- Collect copays and cash procedures
- Assist provider in obtaining microbiological tests
- Perform tuberculosis screening
- Screen and follow up patient test results
- Discuss test results with patients and document conversations
- Instruct patients on diet and drug dosage modifications
- Schedule patients for hospitalization, surgery, and other visits
- Prepare and administer medications as directed by provider
- Evaluate and recommend medical equipment and supplies
- Instruct patients with special needs on monitoring body functions and safety procedures
- Demonstrate care and use of special equipment to patients
- Provide written and verbal instructions on chronic disease conditions
- Teach patients methods of health promotion and disease prevention
- Orient and train personnel
