Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil/environmental engineering with emphasis on water resources
  • 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Project management experience
  • Experience with water resources challenges such as aquifer storage and recovery, stormwater management and flood control, precipitation and flooding data analysis, bank stabilization and stream restoration, floodplain analysis and mapping, snowpack hydrology, and western water law
  • Familiarity with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling approaches and commonly used software
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification
  • Working knowledge of GIS and CADD software
  • Possession of a current, valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship by Barr, now or in the future.

Responsibilities

  • Performing engineering calculations and reviewing clients’ projects related to water rights
  • Working with clients, permitting agencies, and public officials
  • Leading project teams involved in hydrologic/hydraulic modeling, water quality modeling, GIS, and CADD work
  • Proposal development and business development support

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or PhD in civil or environmental engineering with a focus on hydrology, hydraulics, and/or water quality
  • Experience with complex water rights issues
  • Proven track record leading proposal development and projects along the Wasatch Front
  • Experience working with water conservation districts, irrigation, or water companies
  • Demonstrated success in business development and client management
  • Experience with GIS, CADD, hydrologic modeling and 1D and 2D hydraulic modeling software, and water quality modeling
  • Experience with site development design and plans and specifications
  • Construction observation, fieldwork, and surveying experience
