Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing required
  • BSN required
  • Three years clinical experience in area of interest required
  • Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina
  • BCLS required
  • National certification in specialty preferred, encouraged to obtain within one year of hire

Responsibilities

  • Teaches and demonstrates proficiency in patient physical assessment skills, patient care and nursing skills
  • Reinforces policies and procedures, protocols and guidelines with nursing staff
  • Coordinates nursing centered rounds and bedside reporting in conjunction with the Nurse Manager/Case Manager
  • Provides service line specific unit educational programs in collaboration with preceptors and Nursing Practice Development Specialist
  • Ensures the quality of professional services by demonstrating and maintaining competency through updating knowledge and skills and continuing professional growth
  • Communicates in an effective, positive, and professional manner role modeling behaviors associated with Wake Forest Baptist Health Behavioral expectations
  • Collaborates with nurse manager, assistant nurse manager, preceptors and NPDS to design, implement, and evaluate the nursing unit’s orientation and annual needs assessment education plan
  • Creates and maintains a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, self, co-workers, and facility
  • Supports provision of age/developmentally appropriate patient care in accordance with Age/Developmental Specific Care Guidelines for the specific age groups served
