Requirements
- Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta
- 2+ years of experience in network planning in high capacity, mission critical environment
- 2+ years experience coding in Python or another programming language (e.g. PHP, C++, or Java)
- Understanding of fabric architectures, including spine-leaf designs and overlay/underlay networks
- Experience with designing Data Center, IP, Optical, or Fiber networks and knowledge of current technology
- Knowledge of network topology and experience in building resiliency design
Responsibilities
- Create detailed Data Center Network capacity plans that include greenfield designs, brownfield upgrades, and other organic or inorganic growth drivers on a quarterly basis
- Track changes of the latest developments in networking technologies, including routing protocols, hardware advancements, and network interface cards. Evaluate and integrate these technologies into the network planning process to enhance performance, reliability, and scalability
- Codify network design topologies and architectures using Interface Description Language for example thrift to ensure consistency between current production states and future desired network states
- Set and manage utilization levels for data center and fabric network layers. Monitor network performance and trigger necessary augmentations to maintain optimal operation and prevent bottlenecks
- Work closely with engineering, operations, and other cross-functional teams to align network planning with broader organizational goals
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with data center infrastructure and cloud computing platforms
- Production Network design and operations experience
- Experience with network automation tools (Ansible, Python, Terraform)
- Experience modeling and analyzing a business case for network expansion or fiber acquisition
