Requirements
- Current CNA Certification.
- Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers
- Completion of nursing assistant training program
- Completion of a fundamentals of nursing class with a passing grade within the past two (2) years
Responsibilities
- Ensures that the patient room is ready to receive the patient with equipment and supplies necessary during the labor and delivery process.
- Assists patients with bed baths, showering, use of bed pans and restrooms, foley catheter care, and ambulation.
- Obtains and documents vital signs of patients and newborns before, during, and after delivery.
- Prepares the room for vaginal delivery by draping the patient and preparing appropriate equipment, including the delivery table, and assists the RN.
- Prepares the room for C-Section by preparing the patient, scrubbing for procedures, setting up and passing instruments, and completing all instrument, sponge, and sharp counts with the RN.
- Understands the plan of care and delivers basic patient care by collecting and documenting patient data and reporting patient changes to the RN.
- May perform clerical duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a C.N.A Labor/Delivery or a Operating Room (OR) Technician with a C.N.A certificate
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate
- Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers
