Requirements
- Graduated from an accredited NP or PA program
- Maintain a current license to practice as an NP or PA in North Carolina
- Current prescriptive privileges and DEA license required
- BLS/ACLS Certified
- Certification from the NCCPA required for Physician Assistants
- Acute Care NP Certification required for Nurse Practitioners
Responsibilities
- Coordinate, provide, and assist in providing comprehensive quality patient care to the Cardiothoracic patients in collaboration with a supervising physician
- Provides assessment, diagnosis, treatment, education, referral, and consultation in collaboration with a supervising physician
- Maintains clinical and professional competency as appropriate to the age, developmental stages, and special needs of the patients served
- Work in the inpatient setting on a daylight rotating four, 10-hour shift schedule with rotating weekend coverage
- Anticipate to work 1 weekend every 3-4 weeks
- Perform procedures, including bedside talc pleurodesis, autologous blood patch, TPA instillation, chest tube removal, pericardial drain removal, and wound vac placements
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in cardiology, cardiothoracic or vascular surgery preferred
