Requirements

  • Doctorate degree or bachelor’s degree Pharmacy
  • Pharmacist license issued by the state in which the team member practices
  • Typically requires 10 years of experience in health system leadership including complex project management, direct or indirect human resource management, robust understanding of clinical and operational infectious disease and antimicrobial stewardship services
  • Advanced level knowledge and strategic direction of pharmaceutical services
  • Exceptional interpersonal and team-building skills
  • Strong decision-making and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of leadership and staff
  • Proficiency in using the Microsoft Office Suite or similar products
  • Ability to handle multiple demands simultaneously
  • Ability to understand the needs of diverse populations and corporate structure
  • Ability and willingness to learn new skills quickly
  • Excellent large-scale project management skills

Responsibilities

  • Establishes effective, collaborative relationships with infectious diseases physician leaders in all markets as well as acute care and non-acute care physicians and service line leaders across the enterprise
  • Effectively collaborates with key pharmacy and non-pharmacy stakeholders to advance the goals and objectives of enterprise antimicrobial stewardship and pharmacy practice
  • Acts as a liaison for enterprise work in these roles
  • Connects with interdisciplinary partners in medical staff acute care practice areas, nursing and other ancillary support areas regionally, as appropriate
  • Leads or actively represents pharmacy services at antimicrobial subcommittees of P&T
  • Direct leadership of regional infectious diseases pharmacy leaders
  • Collaborates with operational and clinical pharmacy leaders across all regions and markets
  • Works in tandem with regional clinical acute care leaders to support regional accountability to enterprise P&T and clinical pharmacy practice standards
  • Establishes effective relationships with regional pharmacy residency leaders
  • Effectively collaborates with data analytics stakeholders inside and outside the pharmacy department
  • Takes an active role in the quality management system
  • Designs and directs the work of the assigned area(s) of responsibility
  • Develops and/or recommends operating and capital budgets and controls expenditures within approved budget objectives
  • Responsible for understanding and adhering to the organization’s Code of Ethical Conduct

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced residency training and board certification in pharmacotherapy and/or a subspecialty of acute care preferred
  • Advanced management degree and completion of a first- and second-year pharmacy residency are preferred
