Requirements

• BLS certification
• Graduate of a Surgical Technology program

Responsibilities

• Displays understanding and skill in use of all instrumentation utilized during surgical procedures 100% of the time.
• Applies the principles of asepsis in a knowledgeable manner to provide optimum patient care 100% of the time.
• Demonstrates awareness of responsibility to provide optimum patient safety during surgical intervention 100% of the time.
• Displays a commitment to professional growth and teamwork within the department.
• Fully understands and complies with ensuring proper security of medications and secured supplies during distribution and replenishment activities.
• Reports any concerns immediately to manager.
• May have access to the following for the purpose of replenishment, stock rotation and expiration checks: Unit specific, commercially prepared kits (medication and non-medication containing); Epidural trays; Syringes/needles; Plain IV/Irrigation Solutions.
• May be required to Stock Fluid Warmers in OB OR and on 2 East with IV Fluids and irrigation fluids and check temperatures according to policy.
• Responsible for maintaining PAR Levels and currency of dates on supplies that they stock.
• Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and services appropriate to the population served on the assigned unit or work area.
• Knowledgeable of growth and development for all patient/family cultural, linguistic, spiritual, gender, and age specific needs.
• Able to effectively communicate and care for patient and family as reflected in the Plan for Provision of Care.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

• National certification as Certified Scrub Technologist
• High school graduate or equivalent
