Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Education, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with appropriate special education endorsement.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in special education, with a strong understanding of IEP development and implementation.
  • In-depth knowledge of IDEA, state regulations, and best practices related to special education.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage the full IEP process for all eligible students, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and district guidelines.
  • Schedule and facilitate IEP meetings, including initial, annual, and triennial reviews.
  • Work in close collaboration with special education teachers, service providers, and administrators to develop and implement appropriate goals, accommodations, and services.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all IEP-related paperwork and progress reports.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the school and local education agencies (LEAs) regarding student IEPs and services.
  • Monitor and support compliance with timelines, reporting requirements, and data tracking.
  • Provide training and support to instructional staff regarding IEP processes, special education documentation, and student progress monitoring.
  • Participate in student placement decisions and transition planning as needed.
  • Ensure that all IEP goals are aligned with Gersh’s mission of supporting the growth and development of each student.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a leadership or coordinator role within a special education setting.
  • Experience working with students on the autism spectrum.
  • Familiarity with IEP software systems and data platforms used in Washington State.
