Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance or related field from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA)
- 3 to 5 years experience
- Credentials must be obtained prior to the start date.
Responsibilities
- Ensuring institutional compliance with applicable federal, state, local tax laws and regulations as well as State of Nevada and NSHE policies and procedures
- Providing expertise and direction by supporting UNLV campus in oversight of tax reporting, policy development, and providing guidance on tax-related matters across the institution
- Overseeing 1098-T forms, 1099 forms, 990 forms, unrelated business income, and determining the classification of independent contractors versus employees
- Working collaboratively with internal stakeholders, external auditors, and regulatory agencies to minimize tax risks and optimize tax strategies
- Serving as the primary point of contact for working with external regulatory agencies and tax advisors
Preferred Qualifications
- 5 to 7 years experience
- Experience with tax laws and tax compliance
- Experience in higher education
- CPA license
