Requirements

  • B.S. degree in engineering.
  • 10+ years of experience, including component design, fabrication, assembly, and/or testing using a variety of methods, techniques, and materials.
  • Experience defining and executing complex projects with multiple functional interfaces.
  • Experience in systems engineering or systems thinking.
  • Possess high attention to detail and strong organizational/coordination skills.
  • Strong aptitude for troubleshooting and quick thinking to keep projects moving forward.
  • Demonstrated ability to build trusting and effective working relationships that improve team performance and deliver results.
  • Working knowledge of aerospace materials, treatments and manufacturing processes.
  • Working knowledge of configuration management principles and practices.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Responsibilities

  • Own and execute plans to reach development and production milestones on BE-3U. Identify, elevate, and action key input metrics to engine cost and performance to flex project direction and execution accordingly.
  • Identify schedule-critical hardware, equipment, people, and facilities – resolve constraints and fix defects at the root.
  • Define, manage, and action key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure cross product team fabrication and assembly success. Leverage data to make informed decisions and iterate on manufacturing and design changes across product teams.
  • Analyze non-conformance metrics and partner with the quality organization to apply opportunities for process improvements that improve rate manufacturing performance.
  • Coordinate and partner with the operations and supply chain organizations to execute manufacturing upgrade initiatives.
  • Identify and mitigate program risks – remove blockers, investigate/escalate issues, and close on solutions.
  • Manage interdisciplinary engineering and execution tasks to improve overall program success.
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with team leadership and demonstrate strong ownership around cost reduction and producibility projects.
  • Champion a collaborative culture to attack challenges to engine cost, performance, and manufacturing rate.

Preferred Qualifications

  • M.S. degree in engineering
  • Experience with complex component development and manufacturing in the aerospace industry (space or aviation).
  • Experience with the design, test, and manufacturing of rocket engine valves, turbomachinery, combustion devices, or ancillary components.
  • Experience with cradle to grave product development, including leading design reviews, production readiness reviews, and technical readiness reviews.
  • Proficiency in CAD and large assembly model management and configuration (Creo Parametric and Windchill PLM preferred).
  • Experience implementing, customizing, or improving configuration management systems in a development engineering environment.
  • Experience with creating tools to improve documentation, visibility, and tracking of scope of work and forecasted work.
  • Experience leading small teams.
  • Experience in Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA).
  • Experience with vertical integration and/or scaling production of complex assemblies.
  • Experience with automation.
  • Experience with leveraging Artificial Intelligence.
