Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology or equivalent
- Accredited Medical Technology training program clinical rotation
- M.T., M.L.T, M.L.S. certification
- Complex mathematics, reading, writing, and communication skills
- Computer skills
- Laboratory testing
- Equipment maintenance and troubleshooting
Responsibilities
- Perform laboratory testing while following established procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analysis and reporting, and patient record maintenance
- Maintain up to date procedure manuals
- Operate and maintain specialized laboratory equipment as assigned
- Perform and verify QC and equipment function checks as required before reporting patient results
- Trouble shoot and document if these checks are outside of established parameters
- Perform and document equipment maintenance as required
- Review QC weekly in assigned area
- Adhere to CLIA and OSHA guidelines
- Conduct QA studies
- Maintain records for QC, QA, CLIA, and OSHA as required
- Develop and implement new procedures as needed
- Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results
- Trouble shoot identified problems and either correct or notify supervisor immediately
- Document corrective action
- Maintain sufficient inventory of supplies in assigned areas
- Cross train other testing personnel as needed
- Process specimens as needed
- Maintain records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient samples
- Maintain a neat and clean work area
- Attend annual OSHA training sessions
- Adjust work schedule and hours as required
- Receive supplies
- Attend QC/QA meetings
- Other duties as assigned

- Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and speed
- Ability to calmly communicate with and accept criticism from demanding nurses, physicians, and patients
