Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
  • 7+ years of relevant thermal engineering experience
  • Ability to perform trade studies using first principles and engineering fundamentals to make clear recommendations with partial information
  • Strong grasp of heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and mechanical design
  • Experience and ability to work independently on rapid development programs
  • Demonstrated experience in designing, sizing, building, testing, verifying, and validating aerospace hardware is required
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the definition and development of spacecraft thermal control systems
  • Drive component and system requirement development and determine performance requirements, interfaces, and allocated resources (mass, power, etc.) for critical thermal components on the Blue Moon Crew Lander
  • Ensure the design, delivery, and integration of spacecraft thermal components
  • Be responsible for all technical, programmatic, and cost aspects of the assigned thermal component to ensure the component is delivered fully qualified before delivering it to vehicle assembly for integration and system-level testing

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of relevant aerospace experience
  • Solid understanding spacecraft thermal control hardware and spacecraft thermal systems design specifically active thermal control systems
  • Familiarity with qualification process for spacecraft thermal systems
  • Demonstrated ability to own hardware or systems within an integrated engineering team in the aerospace industry
  • Vendor technical management and product delivery experience
  • Experience with technology development or maturation efforts, including leading development testing efforts
  • Professional experience applying GD&T per ASME Y14.5
  • Able to work well in an integrated collaborative team environment, including frequent interactions with other engineers, managers, and program leadership
  • Highly self-motivated with strong organizational and written/oral communication skills – able to prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment
