Requirements
- Preferably familiar with MEDHOST (HMS)
- Knowledgeable in hospital billing and revenue cycle terminology
- Ability to interpret payment and refund reasons
- Proficient in arithmetic computations
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of multitasking
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships
- Flexible with a positive attitude and professionalism under pressure
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Over 3 years of experience in insurance follow-up or similar roles, with at least 3 years in a hospital patient accounts department
- Ability to work independently and follow department standards
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Emotionally mature and effective under stress
- Customer service oriented
- Willingness to travel to customer sites and MEDHOST campus
Responsibilities
- Guide the Account Follow-up team, ensuring adherence to MEDHOST policies and procedures
- Assist team members with daily tasks, address questions, approve adjustments, and assign worklists
- Identify trends in payment delays or denials and develop strategies to meet goals
- Ensure timely follow-up services, monitor productivity, maintain quality standards, and provide feedback
- Prepare agendas and lead customer project status meetings
- Develop and refine workflows and documentation for the team
- Work with leadership and team members to boost productivity and achieve improvements
- Lead training activities based on department needs
- Act as a backup for Revenue Cycle Manager(s) when needed
- Stay updated on payer trends and collaborate with other leaders to enhance operations
- Monitor work queues daily to ensure performance goals are met
- Manage timekeeping records and PTO requests to maintain adequate staffing
- Maintain strict confidentiality of employee and patient records
- Conduct staff meetings and assist with interviewing applicants
- Ensure the effectiveness of the MEDHOST Quality Management System and meet regulatory requirements
- Attend role-based education courses annually
- Perform additional tasks as assigned
- Accurately input and approve worked time by departmental deadlines
- Maintain department documentation and records of customer and team interactions
- Provide training and documentation to assist team members and customers
- Stay knowledgeable about MEDHOST core products and insurance payers
- Attend team and departmental meetings
- Respond promptly to emails, TEAMS messages, and phone communications
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA Privacy and Security requirements
- Evaluate team skills and recommend improvements
