Underwriting Manager

5-7 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Prior experience managing direct reports
Conflict resolution skills and thorough understanding of company policy and procedures
Minimum 5 years of experience underwriting commercial property and casualty (Must include General Liability, Product Liability and Property)
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
High School Diploma required; Associates degree or higher preferred
Certified UW and/or progressive training in UW/Insurance specific disciplines

Help develop UW standards, methods, and processes in accordance with best practices and industry benchmarks
Manage personnel training needs, development plans and stretch assignment for UW team
Provide basic and complex system admin for issue resolution and problem solving
Approve timecards, Paid Time Off, and other Payroll related functions as the supervisor
Maintains harmony among workers and resolves grievances
Manage the team’s performance using KPI’s, monthly 1:1s, task reconciliations, reports, and audit procedures
Build strong, positive agent relationships to promote profitability and growth of new business and the retention of existing business
Identify opportunities for underwriting improvement and recommend solutions
Underwrite and maintain a profitable book of business
