Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • Must be willing to travel 10% of the time
  • BS in Electrical Engineering or Physics
  • Experience with nuclear radiation effects
  • Understanding of electrical circuits

Responsibilities

  • Serve assigned projects as a focal point for nuclear effects related activities including: Contribute to program pursuits and bid estimates, Requirements capture activities (review, parse, and translate nuclear requirements), Provide support to program during Design phase, Advising on risk mitigation strategies including parts selection and circuit design features, Conduct nuclear hardening analysis of components to identify risk and testing needs, Conduct/lead testing activities, Work closely with electrical design engineers and provide circuit feedback
  • Documentation support for each assigned project including: Preparation and review of nuclear test plans, Contribute to the development of the Preliminary and Critical Design Reviews, Conduct testing in the environments of Total Ionizing Dose, Neutron Displacement Damage, Ionizing Dose Rate, and Neutron Single Event Effects, Conduct statistical analysis of data received, Develop and review test reports
  • Oversee implementation of hardness assurance throughout the life cycle of the product, Provide engineering assistance to production, service, and repair personnel

Preferred Qualifications

  • Be capable of hands-on troubleshooting using engineering lab equipment (oscilloscopes, signal generators, etc…)
  • Ability to read/understand electronic schematics
  • Experience with HCI and HCP marking and controls
  • Experience with component level nuclear analysis
  • Experienced testing per MIL-STD-883 at a component to box level in nuclear radiation environments
  • Ability to statistically reduce test data
  • Experience with MIL-STD-2169 and MIL-STD-3023 analysis and testing
  • Knowledge of CBRN contaminants, decontamination, and hardening
  • Possess excellent communication skills, including the ability to write technical material and present to customers and mid-level managers
  • Be self-directed, able to meet cost, schedule, and performance objectives with minimal oversight
