Requirements
- Associate degree.
- Satisfactory completion of an accredited education program in sonography or equivalent.
- Current certification by American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or eligible.
- Must obtain ARDMS certification in Abdomen and OB-Gyn. If not certified upon hire, must obtain certifications within one year of hire.
- Current CPR for Healthcare Providers.
Responsibilities
- Maintains a cohesive working relationship and spirit of cooperation with coworkers, other employees and related individuals.
- Sets a positive example for staff through professional knowledge, appearance, personal conduct and interactions.
- Maintains a professional working environment and follows all hospital policies and guideline recommendations.
- Follow and implement hospital policies and guideline recommendations.
- Proactively plans and executes daily patient flow and staff schedule.
- Provides supervision and instruction to ultrasound students on site for clinical rotation.
- Actively participates in training new employees in equipment functionality, exam protocols and modifications.
- Produce quality images for Radiologist’s review with correct interpretation.
- Prepares copy of images and records image release in electronic health record.
- Verifies images archived to PACS and notifies PACS administrator of any issues.
- Send images to tele-radiology service after hours as instructed.
- Participates in image Peer Review with US Coordinator.
- Works with US Coordinator and Radiologist on ACR accreditation as needed.
- Assists US Coordinator, Radiology Manager, and Radiology Director in equipment and software selections.
- Verifies orders, verifies patient name/birth date and history.
- Documents of all incidents related to patient care on electronic health record (example-incident reports, medications given, etc.).
- Performs and documents time out procedure for invasive procedures.
- Follow department protocol for all exams.
- Provides initial interpretation for exams by department protocol.
- Works with transport and nursing units to coordinate patient exams.
- Continuously monitors the patient throughout the exam.
- Assist Radiologist and authorize providers with exams/procedures as necessary.
