Requirements

  • A minimum of one year of clinical experience as an RN in a peri-operative or critical care setting OR three years of experience as a Surgical Technician is required.
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) upon or within six months of hire
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) if working with pediatric populations
  • Current demonstrated clinical competency

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain courteous and cooperative relations with patients and other users of the ASC.
  • Oversee the clinical practice of nursing in the ASC including assessing patient care needs and planning the delivery of care utilizing the nursing process in a variety of settings.
  • Direct other caregivers in providing patient care.
  • Assume charge responsibilities and resolve problems.
  • Report variances from standard practice to the Nurse Manager.
  • Develop educational material and provide health education to patients and families.
  • Process patients through the ASC.
  • Assess the level of personnel skills and the availability of resources to meet established patient outcomes.
  • Actively participate in attaining ASC goals and mission.
  • Monitor and evaluate cost effective practices within the ASC.
  • Participate in the development and utilization of quality monitoring programs within the ASC.
  • Complete all mandatory nursing competencies and educational requirements within a defined time frame.
  • Contribute to the positive atmosphere of the workplace.
  • Demonstrate respect for the cultural and social differences that exist among people.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information regarding patients, families and caregivers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • One year of intra-operative experience in an Endoscopy suite
