Requirements
- Evidence of success in working in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines.
- Prior experience with petroleum engineering software Aries or PHDWin is required.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel including advanced functions (e.g. VLOOKUP, pivot tables, macros) and data analysis tools.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Access including database design, query, and reporting data analytics.
- Experience in Spotfire (or equivalent) to create and maintain dashboards, visualizations with the ability to analyze and interpret complex data sets.
- Ability to communicate engineering findings effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability and willingness to keep abreast of industry trends, basin trends, A&D trends, and operator track records.
- Familiarity and/or experience in Enverus (or similar) to analyze data, assess performance, and provide actionable insights.
- Collaborative, team player with the willingness to partner on special projects and in-person meetings/presentations.
- Experience at an active E&P company, a third-party reserve audit firm, an A&D firm, or financial / banking institution.
Responsibilities
- Provide support for PNC Energy Team consisting of primarily Credit, CPG/Underwriting, and C&IB.
- Complete thorough, independent engineering due diligence assessment of proposed deals and redeterminations for existing and prospective RBL and Midstream onshore US oil and gas clients by assessing engineering and commercial viability and identifying key risks, typically semi-annually, for existing clients and as needed throughout the year for prospective clients.
- Assess technical risks for each deal and client using information provided by client for analysis, prior industry experience, and data service or other outside industry resources, ensuring potential risks are conveyed to appropriate Energy Team members (Credit, CPG and C&IB).
- Apply standard reserve reporting methodology to engineering analysis that adheres to internal PNC Engineering Policy guidelines, Underwriting Policy, OCC guidelines and all other PNC policies as well as oil and gas reporting SEC and PRMS guidelines, with basis of loan value analysis rooted in valuation of proved reserves, prior experience with reserve classification a plus.
- Communicate key findings to Energy Team members in a concise, relevant, effective manner through written documentation as well as pre-screen or other formal approval meetings with key decision makers; requires strong communication skills and fundamental understanding of economics, payouts, rates of return, and cash flow to assess fully assess and communicate technical risk especially to non-engineering Energy Team members.
- Collaborate with Energy Team members to develop final approval package, supplying engineering outputs, including but not limited to a comprehensive Excel cash flow tool, a written high-level engineering summary, and a detailed written summary for each package approval.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in major onshore US basins preferred.
- Professional engineering license and/or finance experience is a plus.
