Staff – Software Engineer

6+ years of experience in design and development of consumer-faced software
Strong computer science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, design patterns
Strong desire to drive change, and ability to adapt to change quickly
Strong hands-on development skills to prototype technical solutions
Strong oral and written communication skills
Good problem-solving attitude and analytical skills
Ability to balance the long-term ‘big picture’ and short-term implications of design decisions
Practical knowledge of agile software development methodologies
Advanced Java & Python development experience with building highly scalable applications
Proficiency in Azure & GCP
Familiarity with NLP techniques and related algorithms
Generative AI applications/development experience

Interact with Walmart engineering teams across geographies to leverage expertise and contribute to the tech community
Engage with Product Management and Business to drive the agenda, set your priorities and deliver awesome products
Writing and developing code; conducting unit testing; collaborating with the project team and cross-functional teams; troubleshooting open issues and bug-fixes; enhancing design to prevent re-occurrences of defects; ensuring on-time delivery and hand-offs
Seek ways to improve software and its effectiveness

Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 2 years’ experience in software engineering or related area
Background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly
Knowledge of accessibility best practices and Walmart’s accessibility standards and guidelines for supporting an inclusive culture
