Requirements

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Solid understanding of mechanical engineering principles, including statics, dynamics, materials science, and thermodynamics.
  • Proficient in C++ programming.
  • Familiarity with the Linux operating system and command-line interface.
  • Experience with embedded systems (e.g., microcontrollers, sensors, actuators).
  • Demonstrable hardware building skills and a hands-on approach to problem-solving.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the design and development of mechanical components and systems, utilizing CAD software and rapid prototyping techniques.
  • Assist in the assembly, integration, and testing of mechanical hardware with embedded systems and electronic components.
  • Get hands-on experience building and iterating on physical prototypes. This may involve 3D printing, machining, and other fabrication methods.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of test plans to validate system performance and reliability.
  • Work with embedded systems and utilize your C++ skills for tasks related to system control, data acquisition, or interfacing with mechanical hardware.
  • Operate within a Linux development environment for specific project tasks.
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, assembly instructions, and test reports.
  • Work closely with a multidisciplinary team of engineers (mechanical, electrical, software) to achieve project goals.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with robot building (e.g., participation in robotics competitions, personal projects).
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, Fusion 360).
  • Experience with microcontrollers (e.g., Arduino, Raspberry Pi, STM32).
  • Knowledge of common communication protocols (e.g., I2C, SPI, UART).
