Requirements
- Typically requires HS diploma (or equivalent, e.g. G.E.D. in the US) or vocational/technical education in related discipline with a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience
- Relevant experience is performing CMM operations or using CMM software
- Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Experience with precision hand measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gage pins, etc.)
- Experience with one or more of the following hands-on assembly skills: taking apart and reassembling components, diagnosing basic issues, reading blueprints or schematics and/or following repair or assembly instructions
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CMM to conduct precise measurements of optical components, tooling, and fixtures
- Perform routine calibration and qualification of probes, as well as maintain equipment to ensure accurate and reliable performance, including regular cleaning procedures
- Assess and interpret measurement data, including output data and graphical element data to verify compliance with specifications outlined in drawings and work instructions
- Read and interpret optical component specifications from drawings, including knowledge of GD&T
- Independently set up and operate various optics manufacturing equipment, as required
- Collaborate closely with manufacturing engineering and other machining technicians
- Adhere to all environment, health, and safety rules, requirements, and procedures
- Maintain work area in a clean and orderly manner
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic CMM programming experience
- Experience using Zeiss Calypso CMM software is a big plus
- Ability to follow directions and attention to detail
- Strong multi-tasking skills; must be able to run multiple machines in a cell environment
- Experience with optical components
- Experience with surface quality standards, and inspection methods
