Requirements
- High School Diploma required for both Early Childhood Teacher Assistant I and II
- Child Development Accreditation (CDA) or 12 equivalent college credit hours in Early Childhood, Elementary Education or Early Childhood Special Education required for Early Childhood Teacher Assistant II
- Completion of 6 hours of childcare orientation within the first 90 days of employment for new ELC staff
- Completion of a minimum of 15 hours of state-approved training each year (hire date to hire date)
- Maintain current TB test documentation
Responsibilities
- Assist the instructional team in all areas of children’s growth including physical, social/emotional, cognitive, literacy and math
- Adhere to Kentucky Childcare Regulation requirements and USDA Food Program requirements
- Support the implementation of a curriculum that meets KY Regulations
- Demonstrate knowledge of child development and positive discipline practices
- Maintain and sanitize the classroom and materials
- Prepare servings and engage with children during meals
- Help set up classroom environment for emergent learning
- Report concerns about child abuse/neglect and other issues to the Director
- Conduct daily interactions in a professional and positive manner
- Collaborate with University of Louisville departments for observation and research
- Complete a minimum of 15 hours of state-approved training each year
