Requirements
- Ph.D degree in Science or Engineering
- Demonstrated background in battery research and development
- Experience with battery component material development, such as active material or electrolyte
- In-depth knowledge of state-of-the-art technologies in energy storage area
- Capable of generating innovative ideas, proposing, planning, and executing research project on core area of energy storage
- Ability to design and proceed the experiment for material development and study
- Capable of work both independently and collaborate with cross-function teams
- Effective communication skills with other researchers or engineers
- Ability to work multi-task with cross-functional teams
- Ability to lead technical discussion within the team
- Ability to analyze and interpret experimental data
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Hand-on experience with chemical or material characterization
Responsibilities
- Generate innovative ideas, propose new R&D projects, evaluate technologies, plan and execute projects to meet customer needs. Ensure timely protection of all IP
- Lead research and/or experiments to collect required data and validate research ideas in developing. Write timely and high-quality research reports, external publications, and records of invention to document new ideas and research results in your area of research
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry and technical developments to grow core technical skills and competencies
- Manage relationships and grow partnership with divisional staffs to meet project objectives
- Observe and ensure support personnel proper safety practices and ensure personal protective equipment is in working order. Communicate laboratory hazards appropriately
- Execute technical and special assignments
- Assist lab management in identifying megatrends in technology and business strategies in the automotive sector
- Contribute responses to threats and opportunities
- Represent GM as a leader to the external technical and business communities
- Lead technical discussions and reviews as an expert in your field, and communicate results and progress across the organization
- Grow and diversify personal skills and competency base
- In-depth knowledge of the state-of-the-art research in specialized areas
- Consistently demonstrate innovative thinking and strong partnership
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experienced individual researcher with 3-5 years experience
Preferred Qualifications
- > 5 years of experience in battery development area in material or cell level
- > 5 year of hands on experience with larger battery cell format (pouch, cylindrical)
- Hands-on experience and background on battery component materials
- Experience with cell fabrication and testing processing and equipment (e.g. Pilot level)
