Requirements
- Bachelor of Science (BS) in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline with a minimum of 8 years of experience with a background in metallic materials; OR a Master of Science (MS) degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline with a minimum of 6 years of experience with a background in metallic materials.
- Experience with metal fabrication and design
- Experience with repair processes for metal materials
- Experience with the qualification of metals or metallurgical processes
- Experience with material selection
Responsibilities
- Performs root cause analysis of material failures
- Provides effective solutions to production metallics issues
- Generates test plans & reports
- Analyzes, researches, designs and develops metallic materials and their related fabrication and application processes to develop and optimize materials for use in engineering design of and/or application in structures, systems and subsystems
- Applies principles of chemistry, physics, and material behavior to develop metallic processing specifications, fabrication and assembly processes
- Develops, analyzes and applies material properties and design allowables, processing processes and quality engineering specifications
- Material analyses, including failure analysis of components, systems and subsystems, life predictions, and definition and requirement specifications
- Leads Tiger Team efforts in RCCAs related to metallurgical issues, presenting status to stakeholders and customers
- Perform drawing reviews to ensure M&P requirements are satisfied
Preferred Qualifications
- Your ability to obtain and/or transfer and maintain the final adjudicated government clearance, and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company.
- Master’s Degree in discipline of Materials Science or similar
- Subject Matter Expertise in one of the following areas: Metals joining (soldering, brazing, or welding), forgings, advanced material selection, or heat treatment.
- Experience with spacecraft structures
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to collaborate in a team environment
- Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and/or accomplishing them simultaneously
- Ability to comprehend and analyze complex problems and develop solutions
- Experience with military specs and standards
- Experience interfacing with a military customer
