Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
- 10+ years of experience in electronic system development, qualification, production, and sustainment applied to airborne platforms and payloads – this includes experience with performance, functional, security, safety, SWAP-C (Size, Weight, and Power – Cooling), EMI (Electromagnetic Interference)/EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility), environmental (thermal, vibration, shock, etc.), and non-functional requirements (availability, reliability, maintainability, etc.)
- 10+ years of experience working with undersea systems engineering, integration, testing, and/or operations programs
- 5+ years of experience with anti-submarine warfare (ASW), anti-surface warfare (ASUW), or maritime intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) systems
- Experience with the full lifecycle of electronic system development
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to lead major program milestone reviews
- Strong experience in technical work effort estimation processes and tools
- Experience working with electronic systems vendors and suppliers
- Interfacing with customers and program leadership on schedule and performance issues
- Understanding of Risk Management and Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) efforts
- 10% of domestic travel may be required
Responsibilities
- Works as the lead electronics system engineer for Acoustic Programs.
- Leads research, design, development, and testing of new and upgraded electronic hardware systems that support Acoustic Programs and other ASW-type platforms.
- Develops and reviews requirements/designs for Acoustic Programs related to computer processing, transceivers, radios, power supplies, antennas, and static memory devices.
- Leads and works with USN customers at a technical and program level.
- Leads and works with multiple commercial hardware suppliers on elements that will include the complete hardware lifecycle.
- Oversees the design, qualification, production, and sustainment of airborne electronics payloads to meet performance, functional, security, safety, SWAP-C (Size, Weight, and Power – Cooling), EMI (Electromagnetic Interference)/EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility), environmental (thermal, vibration, shock, etc.), and “-ility” (availability, reliability, maintainability, etc.) requirements.
- Develops and statuses risk management plans related to electronic hardware.
- Provides senior technical leadership for the program and associated proposals and serves as the senior technical interface to customers and suppliers.
- Helps establish, maintain, monitor, and review export compliance across all Acoustic Program electronic products.
- Helps establish, maintain, and train personnel in Acoustic Programs-specific security procedures focused on electronic systems across Acoustic Program products.
- Develops, processes, and reviews technical documentation related to the acoustics production hardware for the P-8 aircraft or other platforms and systems used by Acoustic Programs.
- Mentors and supports the development of other Acoustic Programs electric system-focused engineers.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent
- Experience with and/or support of multiple platforms used to support underwater acoustics, including P-3, P-8A, MH-60R, submarines, and Unmanned Autonomous Vehicles (UAVs)
- Experience with Uncrewed Undersea Vehicles (UUVs) and/or Uncrewed Surface Vehicles (USVs)
- Experience with export-related material and international customers
