Requirements

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, other related field, or foreign equivalent
  • 5 or more years of experience in energy market risk, trading risk, or a related analytical role
  • 5 or more years of experience with energy commodities such as electricity, natural gas, crude, or LNG
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with Excel
  • Intermediate level of proficiency in data visualization skills
  • Intermediate level of knowledge of SQL and data visualization tools (e.g., Spotfire, Power BI, or related programs)

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyze market risk exposures across energy trading portfolios
  • Develop and maintain risk reporting tools for the monitoring and reporting of exposure, VaR, and earnings
  • Provide daily, weekly, and monthly risk reporting to senior management and trading desks
  • Collaborate with front office, middle office, and compliance teams to ensure risk policies are adhered to
  • Evaluate new trading strategies and products for risk implications
  • Support the development and enhancement of risk systems and tools
  • Mentor junior analysts and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement
  • Support modeling of proposed trading scenarios and structured products
  • Participate in business improvement projects that might include supporting or leading cross-functional teams that implement systems enhancements and/or new business processes

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced level of proficiency in the development or maintenance of complex models
  • Intermediate level of proficiency in risk modeling tools and platforms
  • Intermediate level of knowledge of physical and financial products/contracts used in commodity trading and risk management (swaps, options, futures and forwards)
  • Beginner level of knowledge of Right Angle and/or TriplePoint ETRM systems techniques
  • Beginner level of knowledge of machine learning or advanced statistical
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated willingness to drive change and improve work processes
