Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Divinity, Theology, Pastoral Counseling, or equivalent.
  • At least 2-5 years of related experience.
  • Knowledge and skills committed to social justice and able to work in a multi-faith, diverse, and inclusive environment.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality at all times.
  • Ability to serve as a confidential Title IX resource for students who have been impacted by gender-based misconduct.
  • Strong technology skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to effectively interface with students, faculty, staff, trustees, and visitors.
  • Ability to be flexible, adaptable, and available as needed and to adjust and grow to the needs of the community.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one spiritual guidance, pastoral care, and support to students.
  • Offer small group spiritual formation mentorship and/or one-on-one discipleship; find creative ways to involve prayer, scripture/inspirational literature readings, and opportunities for reflection.
  • Plan and provide weekly interdenominational programming that is culturally and spiritually diverse in liturgical and worship styles.
  • Deliver relevant homilies and teachings that are college age appropriate and culturally relatable.
  • Plan and lead retreats with an interdenominational group of student-leaders.
  • Work with a diverse team of religious leaders to develop multi-faith services and offerings campus-wide.
  • Participate in College functions such as Baccalaureate and Commencement.
  • Provide support and comfort to the Babson community and lead Peace Circles during crises.
  • Encourage and provide opportunities for students to engage in theological thought and inclusive dialogue around ethical and social justice concerns, religious diversity, and religious tolerance.
  • Strongly encourage and support students to engage in community outreach as well as interfaith programming with other faiths on campus.
  • Educate the Babson community on Protestant Christian beliefs, basic tenets, and traditions.
  • Support BCF in planning and participating in community outreach at Babson and/or Greater Boston as well as interfaith programming with other faiths on campus.
  • Collaborate with other campus departments for special programming (i.e., Hunger and Homelessness week, Leap of Faith week, International Education week, CARE Week).
  • Attend regular Chaplain Meetings and one-on-one meetings with Associate Director for Spiritual Life.
  • Respond to electronic communications, phone calls, and other correspondence in a timely manner.
  • Submit weekly reports to Senior Director, Office of Belonging and Inclusion and Associate Director for Spiritual Life.
  • Hold weekly office hours on campus at least 2-3 times per week.
  • Meet with Christian student leaders and affiliates throughout the year to assure alignment with OBI and Babson policies.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as required.
