Requirements
- A high school diploma
- Two years of entry-level work experience with voice communications systems or central switchboard operations
- An associate degree in a technical communications discipline may be substituted for one year of the required experience
- Computer literacy
- Ability to perform job functions in an upright position

Responsibilities
- Operates the base radio station for Public Safety and Hosp. Authority radio systems and dispatches and directs officers promptly to emergency and other locations.
- Maintain a dispatch log (computerized or written) of all activities for dispatched or received calls and for all events.
- Utilize machinery and equipment in the performance of daily tasks.
- Answer all non-emergency & emergency telephone lines, obtain and record pertinent information regarding the nature and urgency of the situation, determine appropriate response and expeditiously alert responding units via radio or telephone, dispatch officer for assistance and/or investigations.
- Operate the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) teletype to obtain information of vehicle registration, securities, boats, guns, articles, missing persons, unidentified persons, Highway Department Information, Crime History checks on suspects, FAA Aircraft tracing, State/Wants/Warrants file. Monitor messages on teletype; obtain information on CCHR and vehicle registration when needed. Adheres to 10 minute hit policies as required. Sends messages on teletype when needed.
