Requirements
- BA/BS degree and at least five years of progressive experience in institutional giving, grant writing, and fundraising within the nonprofit or higher education sector.
- In-depth understanding of foundations, government agencies, and corporate funders in the arts and higher education.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and communication skills, with experience crafting compelling narratives and proposals.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities with a strong eye for both short-term task management and long-term strategy, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
- Driven fundraising professional with a proactive approach to identifying new funding sources.
- Proficiency with Raiser’s Edge or similar fundraising database platforms is preferred.
- Highly organized, resourceful, and entrepreneurial, with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Experience managing government grants and familiarity with the intricacies of institutional funder relations.
Responsibilities
- Serve as key strategist for institutional funding opportunities, working in partnership with chairs, deans and Advancement leadership to translate CCA’s vision into compelling funding proposals.
- Ensure all proposals are clear and aligned with CCA’s strategic priorities.
- Develop, write, and submit grant proposals for institutional funding at all giving levels, collaborating closely with faculty, academic program chairs, staff, and trustees to gather necessary information, create proposal narratives, budgets, and supporting documents, and ensure timely submission while adhering to all guidelines.
- Lead the stewardship of institutional donors, ensuring they feel engaged with CCA through personalized communication and regular updates on the impact of their contributions.
- Develop and submit financial and narrative reports for secured institutional funds in line with donor requirements.
- Identify and research new institutional donor prospects using tools such as Foundation Directory Online, as well as through relationships with the CCA community of faculty, alumni and friends.
- Maintain a dynamic list of potential funding sources and evaluate their fit with CCA’s needs and priorities.
- Work with leadership to assess the viability of new funders and propose strategic funding opportunities.
- Track institutional giving activities and maintain accurate records using a CCA’s fundraising database Raiser’s Edge and spreadsheets.
- Ensure that application deadlines, reporting requirements, and restricted fund management are tracked and met.
- Collaborate with Advancement Services to ensure donor records and acknowledgments are managed effectively.
- Work closely with the VP of Advancement, staff, and faculty to ensure alignment of institutional giving strategies with CCA’s strategic goals, including but not limited to developing, managing and supporting the review of institutionally funded programs.
- Coordinate with the Advancement team to plan events and activities that foster donor engagement and recognition specifically related to funder cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.
- Participate in Advancement-wide planning process and strategic initiatives continuing insights from the institutional giving perspective.
