Requirements

  • BS in Science or Industrial Engineering discipline preferred
  • 7+ years of demonstrated experience in a food or beverage manufacturing environment; coffee manufacturing a plus
  • Must understand the GFSI recognized certification program requirements. SQF Practitioner certified a plus
  • Must be HACCP certified, and be experienced & competent to maintain a HACCP based food safety system
  • Must have experience in a supervisory/management role
  • Complete understanding of the laboratory analytical equipment function and operation required; coffee lab equipment preferred
  • Product tasting and product development background required, Q Certified a plus
  • Ability to conduct, analyze and report competitive analysis
  • Some microbiological experience would be considered an advantage
  • Capable of making judgment, risk, and business decisions quickly and expeditiously
  • Ability to stand-alone in decision making

Responsibilities

  • Train, develop, and evaluate QA / QC staff to provide timely, accurate, and consistent service to both internal and external customers
  • Lead the planning and implementation of plant quality objectives in Quality, Cost, Delivery, Safety, and Environment
  • Manage the SQF Food Safety and Quality Systems
  • Develop and champion all quality & food safety programs including HACCP, Traceability, GMPs, Pest Control and Sanitation
  • Coordinate third-party and internal audits
  • Coordinate customer quality assurance visits and respond to customer quality assurance inquiries
  • Apply total quality management and statistical tools in investigations, analytics, and reporting
  • Lead the investigation and resolution of the product holds, customer & consumer complaints and regulatory
  • Responsible for coordinating/conducting product or raw material trials & projects in conjunction with cross-functional teams
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts in quality systems, food safety, and specification compliance
  • Support product development from raw material, to processing, to packaging
  • Actively participate in the cupping process and evaluation of product quality

Preferred Qualifications

  • Mechanical aptitude and understanding of coffee manufacturing process equipment preferred
  • Ability to conduct, analyze and report competitive analysis
