Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing is required
- Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in state of practice is required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) is required
- Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR) certification is required for colleagues hired after April 24, 2024
- Successful completion of an RNFA program that meets the AORN standards for RN first assistant education programs is required for colleagues hired after April 24, 2024
Responsibilities
- Assist the surgeon in performing a safe operation with optimal results for the patient
- Responsible for independent nursing behaviors of peri-operative assessment and post-operative evaluation of care
- Engage in intra-operative practice inter-departmentally with the surgeon
Preferred Qualifications
- First Assist experience is preferred
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is preferred
