Requirements

  • 7+ years of IT-specific work experience with a Bachelor’s degree
  • 9+ years of IT-specific work experience without a Bachelor’s degree
  • Working knowledge of next generation data center technologies, including Liquid Cooling of server infrastructure
  • Working knowledge of networking/server/storage architecture and hardware, cable connections and types
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to multi-task several unrelated issues in ambiguous conditions

Responsibilities

  • Key technical resource to drive QCs DC designs based on the scale of projects and timelines
  • Conduct engineering analysis and research designs and methods of implementing data center infrastructure equipment and collaborating with Facilities (MEP)
  • Ensure designs and installations meet requirements (e.g., predicted cooling, structural, operational concerns, etc.)
  • Globally assist with data center demand planning, which is driven by the QC’s engineering and other business needs
  • Develop and review, Design and RFP documents and processes
  • Manage QCs external design consultants through the design and construction process
  • Coordinate and partner with QCs internal facilities teams with respect to Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Controls, Cabling, and Security design aspects
  • Translate highly technical concepts into actionable plans
  • Guide product definition using credible insights developed by interacting with end customers, independent Software/Hardware vendors, and strategic partners
  • Manage vendors working on Data Center environments
  • Review and participate in IT compliance and risk management activities
  • Review and drive DC security processes, enforcement, and audits

Preferred Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in Data Center technology design and implementation
  • Experience managing vendors in a Data Center environment
  • Experience in partnering with DC co-location vendors and implementation specialists
  • Deep knowledge of cabling, HVAC, power, cooling, liquid cooling technology implementation and knowhow
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to write clear and accurate process documentation
  • Experience with both physical and cloud infrastructure, including networking, auto-scaling, object-based storage, and infrastructure-as-code
  • Experience in architecting or designing cooling solutions at server, rack, row, room, and building levels
  • Travel for site assessments, internal design meetings, construction review, and interfacing with design consultants
