Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 5 years of HR experience including employee relations and compliance
  • French and English speaking
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Capability to manage multiple tasks independently and in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to deliver results, inspire trust and operate with transparency
  • On-site, in person, at either Montreal or Saskatoon locations
  • CHRP/ CRHA designation considered and asset
  • Experience working in a unionized environment

Responsibilities

  • Advise site and functional leaders on talent strategies, workforce planning, and organizational design
  • Serve as the primary HR contact for Canadian operations, driving alignment with business goals and workforce strategies
  • Support cultural and organizational change initiatives, including post-acquisition integration and continuous improvement projects
  • Partner with plant leadership, and the HR function, to locally execute human resource programs including engagement/recognition, performance/talent management, new policies, benefits, and leaves
  • Manage complex employee relations issues, including investigations, conflict resolution, and performance matters, ensuring compliance with Canadian labor laws
  • Lead or support union-related activities, including grievance handling and collective bargaining agreement (CBA) administration
  • Oversee compliance programs including employment equity, pay equity, terminations, severance, required government filings, and immigration matters
  • Partner with the Talent Acquisition team and local leadership to recruit and onboard qualified candidates
  • Guide managers through the performance management process, coaching them on feedback, development planning, and corrective actions
  • Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion through equitable HR practices
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local labor laws
  • Support benefits and disability claims administration in collaboration with the Corporate Benefits team
  • Partner with the Compensation and Legal teams on annual pay equity filings and compliance reporting
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure timely and efficient HR delivery service
  • Drive effective use of HR systems (e.g., Workday) and maintain accurate employee records
  • Support local execution of engagement and recognition programs
  • Promote a safety-first culture through HR practices that support return-to-work, safety training, and risk management

Preferred Qualifications

  • PHR/SHRM certification
  • Recruiting experience
  • Experience with Workday
