Requirements
- Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program and currently licensed or eligible for licensure as a Physician Assistant
- Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program and currently licensed or eligible for licensure as an APRN
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
Responsibilities
- Provides direct care to patients through comprehensive history taking and physical examinations
- Evaluates and treats patients based on diagnostic test results
- Performs therapeutic procedures such as central venous line insertion and bronchoscopy
- Initiates referrals to other healthcare providers and consults with attending or collaborating physicians
- Documents and bills for direct care provided
- Utilizes current research and evidence-based decision-making in clinical practice
- Participates in quality/performance improvement activities and clinical research
- Supports accreditation, compliance, and regulatory activities of the organization
- Precepts students and facilitates learning of new team members
Preferred Qualifications
- Preferred minimum of 1 year experience in an Adult ICU or 2 years’ experience in adult acute care setting
- Previous critical care experience is preferred
- Preferred Training: AGACNP/ACNP (Adult Gerontology Acute Care NP/Acute Care Nurse Practitioner)
