Requirements

  • Associate degree in Computer Science or a closely related field.
  • Five (5) years of troubleshooting and maintaining PC/Server software, hardware, and applications experience.
  • You must possess a valid Arizona driver’s license or can obtain a license by the time of hire.
  • Prior to hiring, the Sheriff’s Office requires that all candidates pass an extensive background review.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoots and resolves advanced or highly technical hardware problems including PCs, Laptops, monitors, printers, and other peripheral equipment.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves highly complex software problems including software installations, updates, and maintenance.
  • Troubleshoots LAN connectivity problems.
  • Troubleshoots Wireless Network connectivity problems.
  • Completes non-routine work orders and moves/adds/changes requests with little or no guidance, including patches, upgrades, software deployments, installations.
  • Works in conjunction with the MCSO Service Desk to prioritize and manage support calls.
  • Manages Service Desk queue using Service Desk ticketing application.
  • Maintains high level of communication with customers to schedule hardware and software installation/support calls.
  • Confers with end users to determine the types of hardware and software required.
  • Distributes appropriate support calls to hardware maintenance vendors and application developers as appropriate.
  • Writes programs to fulfill requirements or selects appropriate off-the-shelf software then modifies them to suit Office needs.
  • Maintains inventory of personal computers (PCs), peripherals, and spare parts using Information Technology Asset Management ITAM software.
  • Develops and/or modifies documentation and knowledge base articles.
  • May be responsible for training, supervising, and assigning work to other IT staff, although not primarily a function of this position.
  • Performs back-ups of user profiles and data.
  • Trains users in utilization of equipment and provide end-users with technical and hardware solutions.
  • Acts as technical support on crucial projects and functions as an escalation point for complex technology issues as assigned by Commander/Supervisor.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous IT or Technology Senior/Lead professional experience.
  • Previous experience working in a law enforcement environment.
  • CompTIA A+ certification and/or Network + certification.
  • Experience supporting Windows 10 / Windows 11.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft Office or Microsoft 365.
