Requirements
- Minimum 15 years’ experience in consumer publicity and/or communications in publishing and/or entertainment.
- BS/BA degree in related field preferred.
- Exemplify knowledge of DC intellectual property and its fan community.
- Possess in-depth knowledge of the publishing industry, including trends as well as editorial processes, distribution channels, direct market, book trade and mass market publishing along with expertise in digital publishing platforms.
- Demonstrate a high level of communication proficiency through written and verbal communications, and personal presentation.
- Strong relationships with key comic trade, genre and global pop culture journalists.
- Robust knowledge of comic trade outlets both genre and trade.
- Proven successes and understanding of traditional and interactive PR channels.
- Excellent writing skills are a must (writing samples required upon receipt of resume).
- Exceptional proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Keynote required.
Responsibilities
- Working with the head of DC Publicity, develops and implements global communications and publicity strategy for publishing initiatives and events, strategic external communication planning, publicity campaign design, trend pieces, anniversaries, conventions, trade shows, presentation planning and works in concert with stakeholders across the organization.
- Directly responsible for media relations with key trade and consumer press outlets to maximize DC events, initiatives and stories. This includes direct pitching, narrative management, scheduling, and staffing interviews, negotiating exclusive coverage for announcements/reveals, securing assets from internal stakeholders, writing press releases, media alerts and informational copy.
- Works closely with DC publishing talent on priority titles to bring their stories to fans across various media platforms, ensuring the vision and creative elements are clearly communicated; serve as primary contact for press coverage.
- Collaborate with marketing, editorial and social teams in the development of communications strategy, written materials to coordinate publicity initiatives to ensure accurate extension of messaging to the press, DC fan community and beyond.
- Develops and implements publicity strategies focused on digital content for DC.com, DC UNIVERSE INFINITE subscription service, and DC-related podcasts in conjunction with the digital marketing team.
- Build and sustain relationships with key members of the mainstream, business, and comic trade media.
- Maintains effective working relationships with Editorial, Talent Relations, Legal, Global Brands and Franchises, Games, Marketing, Sales and Distribution teams as well as other departments across Warner Bros. Discovery in support of DC’s publishing efforts.
Preferred Qualifications
- Brand experience is desired.
- SharePoint, Monday and Digital platform experience is desired.
